Privacy Policy

1. Data collection

Counted does not operate an account system or relationship-data server. The live database and local media stay in the app's device container.

Counted does not require an account, and it does not sell, rent, or share your personal information with advertisers, data brokers, or analytics providers.

2. Local app container

All data in Counted, including names, relationships, visit history, memories, and photos, is stored locally on your device. Counted does not receive your relationship data.

3. Analytics and tracking

Counted does not use third-party analytics, advertising SDKs, or tracking technologies to monitor user behavior.

4. Notifications

Notifications in Counted are scheduled locally on your device. No remote servers are used to send reminders.

5. Backups and data control

You can export your data at any time using Counted's backup tools. Exported `.counted` backup files are encrypted with a passphrase that you choose and go only where you choose.

Apple device backup may include Counted data according to your device settings and the in-app Device backup preference. Counted cannot access, inspect, recover, or remotely delete an Apple device backup.

Deleting the app removes its local container but may not erase copies retained in Apple device backup or user-chosen export locations.

6. Data loss

Deleting the app removes its local container. Exported backups and device backups are separate copies governed by the destination and settings you choose.

7. Photos and device permissions

If you choose to attach a photo to a person or memory, Counted may request access to your camera or photo library on your device.

These permissions are used only to let you select or capture photos for your own local records. Counted does not upload those photos to a remote server.

8. Website calculator

The visit calculator on the Counted website runs locally in your browser. It does not transmit or retain your inputs or result, and it does not use cookies, behavioral analytics, or advertising tracking in this phase. Calculator values are never attached to an email record.

9. Counted Plus early access

If you join the Counted Plus early-access list, the email address you enter is sent to EmailOctopus. EmailOctopus processes it to maintain the list and send the welcome and update emails. The list uses single opt-in. You can unsubscribe through any email or request deletion through Counted support.

The signup form uses Google reCAPTCHA to reduce automated abuse. Use of reCAPTCHA is subject to Google's Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

10. Future purchases

If premium features are offered in the future, purchases will be processed through the platform's official purchase system. Counted does not store or access payment information.

11. Calculation disclaimer

Counted includes estimated calculations based on general statistical models and assumptions, including approximate remaining visits and life-expectancy context.

These calculations are not predictions of actual lifespan or real-world outcomes. Individual circumstances vary widely and cannot be accounted for. The app is intended for reflective and informational purposes only.
